Tennis courts by day, baseball field by night. The students take an active role in maintaining their school, making Western kids look fairly pampered. Many schools have one or two maintenence workers on the premises, but the children are responsible for cleaning the grounds at the end of the day, picking up trash, sweeping, cleaning the desks, and so forth. Images of little orphan Annie may come to mind, but it really seems to instill in them a sense of pride in their school (and also encourages them to be more aware of how they treat the space around them).
